Equipment
- Dutch Oven
- Flour Sifter
- Large mixing bowl
- Parchment Paper
- Silicone Spatula
Ingredients
- 5 Cups - Flour (White)
- 0.5 Tsp - Yeast (Active Dry/Fleischmanns)
- 2.5 Tsp - Salt
- 3 Cups - Water
Directions
- Sift the flour into a large mixing bowl
- Sprinkle salt and yeast on top of flour
- Warm 2 cups of filtered water in microwave for 30 seconds
- Add 1 more cup of cold filtered water to the warm water
- Pour the water on top of the flour mix gently and mix thoroughly with your hands until everything is mixed together nicely resulting in a thick yet moist mix
- Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let it sit for 8-12 hours for the yeast to work its magic
- Preheat oven to 450F – Place empty dutch oven in during preheat phase to warm. Remove when oven reaches desired temperature.
- Cut enough parchment paper to create a shielded base in the dutch oven. You will be transferring the mixture into here in the following steps.
- Once the mixture has risen, use the silicone spatula to carefully detach the mixture from the bowl and transfer slowly into the parchment paper in the dutch oven
- Shape the mixture slightly by adjusting the parchment paper around in the dutch oven. Cut off any excess parchment paper to avoid it touching the lid and burning during baking
- Cover the dutch oven with the lid and insert into the oven. Bake for 30 minutes
- After 30 minutes is up, remove the dutch oven and inspect. Remove the lid and insert back into the oven for 5-10 minutes to lightly brown the exterior of the loaf
- Once browned, remove from oven and let it sit covered by a kitchen towel for 20 minutes
- Remove towel and enjoy! Nom nom….
